New Zealand Englisg

Teacher Philippa Fox Gave a lecture about about New Zealand English on April .

New Zealand is an immigrant country . From here you may see all kinds of people , who come from Europe , Africa , India , America , China ,Korean and Australia . Of course , they brings their English here ,such as British English, Korean English, Indian English, Africa English etc . Actually , there are two types of common English , one is standard English ,the other is American English . New Zealand English is close to standard English .

With the increasing of the immigrant amount , A new accent — mixing bowl was created during the daily communication among the mixed people . They influences each other in normal changes, pioneering spirits, national identities, media characters etc .
The content of the accent , mainly are about vowels, diphthongs, disappearing differences, extra syllable, as well as high rising intonation and so on . You may find that some vowels have already changed in New Zealand . For examples , A Kiwi usually pronounces ‘fish’ as ‘fush’ , and pronounces ‘chips’ as ‘chups’, say ‘pen’ as ‘pin’ and ‘six’ as ‘sex’.Lastly, if you need more help . you can find some references in the Language Learning Centre at library in Unitec about the story of New Zealand English. You may also read some articles about NZILD English by visiting some websites, like http://listener.co.nz/issue/3393/features/4034/watch_your_language.h or

Two pictures

There are two pictures here. Picture one shows a group of students are studying in classroom one .They are discussing questions in group with the help of computer. Compare to the picture two , these students are elderly teenagers.
In picture two , there are some students who are learning something , some are writing , some are reading . They aren’t sitting on the chair using computer , instead they sit on the ground in group or individually . Maybe they are younger than those in classroom two and short of analysis ability so that they needn’t to use the computer for help .
Now computers already become common in New Zealand in educational area. Nevertheless , when deciding whether computers could be used by students in the class their ages should be taken into accounted .
